Hello and welcome to my website! My name is April Charmaine Seawell. I have been teaching piano in the Lafayette / Louisville area in Colorado for the past 17 years. I am a graduate from the San Francisco Conservatory Preparatory Department (1989) and I have a BA in piano performance from UC Santa Cruz in California (1993). I am a member of both the Boulder and Broomfield Piano Teacher Associations. I teach ages 5 through senior, combining theory, technique, and song playing in my studio. I believe piano should be fun, so students are able to choose some repertoire that they would like to learn. I also engage students in group lessons with music history, performing and games or other musical activities. I have a home studio in the Autumn Meadows subdivision at the intersection of Highway 287 and Highway 42 in Lafayette, Colorado. I'm also available for weddings, funerals and other events. The first thing you need to know about me is that I love music and I love teaching. Music has been my life. I started playing the piano at a very young age and have been fortunate to enjoy a rewarding career as a performer, teacher, church music director, and writer. I now have almost 30 years of professional experience. My educational background includes two degrees in music. One is from Tyndale College in Toronto and the other from the Royal Conservatory of music in Toronto. Besides piano performance training included of course classes in music theory, history, choral conducting, composition, and yes professional teaching! |
